Here is a Starrett No. 657A magnetic base with a Starrett No. 196 dial indicator that is in good condition. There tools have been used so you will find a some scratches and scuffs but nothing that will hinder the usefulness of this set. Some of these imperfections is that the original owner scribed his/her favorite numbers on the backside of the indicator. Shell Oil Co. is scribed twice on the magnetic base. Please don't let these flaws detract from what is otherwise a very nice used set of tools. Everything is in good used condition. The magnet turns "on" and "off" and "sticks" solidly on any smooth steel surface. The fine adjustment feature helps setting your indicator up a breeze. The Starrett dial indicator is in excellent used condition. The plunger moves easily with no hesitations and always returns to "0". Smooth! The clear plastic lens is crystal clear because I just replaced it. This base and indicator have a vertical reach of about 9 1/2" and a horizontal reach of about 6 1/2". It fits great into those spots that the larger magnetic bases just won't fit. Also included is a snug that holds these tools together and different indicator points for different applications.
